Hey everyone. Just wanted to say a big THANK-YOU for all the birthday well-wishes. I was looking through my gallery and noticed I've been a bit lazy with posting new stuff. I have a few new pieces that I just haven't gotten around to putting up yet, so I'll try to get to them in the next few days. I really appreciate all the comments and encouragement with my art, so thanks a lot. I hope the coming year will be a great one.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Devious Journal Entry
Hey all, I'm trying to get back into posting my art after a VERY long period of inactivity. Hoping to get a backlog of pics put up over the next few days, so keep an eye out. :)
Inspired by Drew Struzen
I recently got to see an amazing doco on Drew Struzen, who some might know from his very popular and well-loved movie poster work. Watching him work has really got me excited to try some of his techniques for myself. I've been trying to develop my skill working with colours, and it was so fascinating to watch a master like Struzen do his thing. I've decided to do piece on Buffy, using some of the fantastic comic book cover art that's out there as a base (I'm not a comic artist, but I LOVE that style), then maybe try my hand at something bigger. Will post what I come up with when it's done. :)
Avatar is kicking my ass!
In an effort to improve my skill with colour, I'm trying to do a few pastel pieces. I loved doing Boba Fett and was really happy with how it all worked, so with my confidence up I decided to tackle a pic I've been wanting to do for a while...Neytiri and Jake Sully from Avatar.
AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!
Talk about a challenge! They're such beautiful characters from such a beautiful movie, but they're so impossible to capture well in art. I've seen a lot of what other artists have been able to do, paintings and drawings, and honestly I've only seen a few that have really captured them well (at least in the style I'm trying to get the hang of). The co
Happy Birthday Me!!
Well, it's another birthday for me, and I'm pretty happy with how my last year has gone. I've developed my charcoal work to a much better level, I've started writing again for the first time in a long while, and I'm looking forward to what the next year has in store. Today I got started on my very first attempt at air-brushing, and it went pretty good. I'm optimistic that I can get the hang of it pretty quick (fingers crossed), which is awesome cos I love the effect of airbrushed paintings. If it all works out ok, I'll be posting a pic of it soon enough.
I'd like to say a big thank you to all those who have commented on the artwork I've post

I hope you had a great one! I wrote a little poem for you ... ahem ... here 'tis: "This birthday wish is late because I'm lazy and I'm slow ... But just because it's late --- I'd hate --- not to let you know ... How very much I like you and next year I'll be on time ... So 'Happy Birthday' and 'Good-Bye' --- I've just run out of rhyme!" ♥ Now you can never say no one's ever written a poem for you!
